Attorney & Staff Bios

Brian T. Scheid, Attorney at Law

Brian T. Scheid is the owner and principle attorney of Warren & Scheid, P.C. He earned a degree in political science from Duke University in 1980, followed by a law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1983. After graduation, Brian started his career as an associate attorney practicing under the late James L. Warren, the founder of his current firm.

Brian now has over 30 years of experience serving clients across the New River Valley and Virginia. He is admitted to practice before the Virginia Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia. Brian acts as the current Commissioner of Accounts for Giles County, honorably serving at the appointment of the Giles County Circuit Court.

Brian is certified by the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission as lead defense counsel for capital murder prosecutions. His work in this area includes decades of experience litigating and trying homicide cases, such as successfully arguing in the Virginia Supreme Court for the reversal of his client’s death sentence. In addition to capital cases, Brian has represented thousands of clients charged with criminal offenses across the New River Valley, with a proven track history of competent and zealous representation.

Brian is highly experienced in real estate transactions and property disputes. He served for over 30 years as counsel for the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation in eminent domain cases across Southwest Virginia. His knowledge in this area is helpful in defending against all eminent domain cases affecting our area.

Brian has a history of service to his community, serving as a past President of the Narrows Lions Club, where he was recognized with the Lions Club State Achievement Award. He has also served as the former President of the American Cancer Society-Giles County Unit-Virginia Division, where he was the recipient of the Pace Setter Award. Under Brian’s leadership, Warren and Scheid, PC was the recipient of the Giles County Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award in 2010.

Brian has served as the former chairman of the Virginia State Bar Ethics Committee for the 9th District East of Virginia. During his time in this position, he was recognized with a Certificate of Appreciation presented by the Virginia State Bar Committee on Lawyer Discipline.

Brian S. Scheid, Attorney at Law

Brian S. Scheid is proud to work beside his father at Warren & Scheid, P.C. After graduating from Virginia Tech in 2008 with a degree in political science, Brian started his legal studies at the Appalachian School of Law (ASL), where he earned his law degree in 2011. During his time at ASL, Brian participated in national moot court competitions and law review, earning honors as the Best Oral Advocate award recipient at the 2010 Herbert Wechsler National Moot Court Competition held in Buffalo, NY.

After graduating in 2011, Brian followed his passion for serving indigent populations by working as a trial attorney for the Colorado State Public Defender. During his 5 years in the Arapahoe County, Colorado trial office, he had the opportunity to represent thousands of criminal clients, including those charged with homicide, robbery, assault, drug distribution, and other serious crimes of violence. The time spent in this area honed and bolstered his skills as an effective advocate and trial attorney, which make him a great choice for helping you with all your legal needs.

Brian is admitted to practice in Colorado, Virginia, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia.

Barbara Scheid, Real Estate Paralegal

Barbara is Warren & Scheid’s real estate paralegal, providing essential support service to the firm’s attorneys. Barbara received her associate’s degree in paralegal applied science from Akron University in 1980 and graduated magna cum laude from Radford University in 2001, earning a degree in English. Prior to joining the firm in 2015, Barbara worked as the marketing manager at VTLS in Blacksburg, Virginia from 1986 to 2002 and was an English teacher at Giles High School from 2003-2015. Barbara assists the firm’s attorneys with all facets of the real estate practice, including commercial and residential closings, and drafting of purchase/sale contracts, deeds, and easements. Barbara’s strengths include organization, effective communication, and attention to detail. Barbara is instrumental in scheduling and managing the firm’s closing calendar, as well as working side by side with the attorneys to assure your real estate needs are met.

Lisa Boone, Paralegal

Lisa has served at Warren and Scheid for over 35 years. She graduated summa cum laude from Bluefield State College in 1982, earning a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration. While at Bluefield State, she earned the distinguished honor of being a co-valedictorian of her class. Lisa acts as the office manager and general paralegal for the firm. She provides invaluable support services to the attorneys at the firm, handling criminal, civil, and domestic relations cases. Lisa is accomplished in legal research, document preparation, and case management. Her knowledge, dedication, and service to the firm helps us provide the best possible representation to our clients.
